MYLI is a 2-year training and support program offered by Miami YFC, in partnership with The Urban Training Network. The program is designed to introduce a model of youth ministry that focuses on the effective evangelism, discipleship and empowerment of young people.
MYLI Director, Tommy Carrington, brings 25 years of youth ministry experience to the initiative. He earned his M.A. in Counseling/Psychology from Trinity International University, and D. Min. specializing in “Ministry in Complex Urban Settings,” from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Trinity International University and Palm Beach Atlantic University.
Dr. Tommy Carrington personally teaches and empowers youth ministers from our local churches to carefully share the gospel in a lasting way.
Participants attend bi-weekly two-hour sessions for 4 semesters (10 months).
Topics include:
MYLI increases the effectiveness of youth leaders in the church, equipping them to reach more youth for Christ. By training under-resourced youth leaders to effectively reach, not only the students in their youth group, but to go beyond the walls of their church to reach youth in their communities and local schools, we are able to reach more youth in our city with the Gospel. Miami Youth for Christ believes the church is vital for reaching Miami’s youth. MYLI will strengthen the local church’s outreach to young people and assist in the task of discipling them in their faith.
